S.R.H. Chardonnay
Wine
Bannockburn S.R.H. Chardonnay, named after Bannockburn's founder Stuart Reginald Hooper, is sourced from the oldest Chardonnay vines on the estate's Olive Tree Hill Vineyard.
The vineyard was planted in 1976 in soils of dark clay over a limestone base. Its 12 rows of Chardonnay grow in an ancient seabed exposed by the erosive forces of the Moorabool River.
Whole bunch pressed to tank, the grapes ferment in a 1,200 litre French oak vat. Indigenous primary and secondary fermentation follows with minimal stirring. The wine matures on lees for 24 months before bottling.
Bright straw green, Bannockburn S.R.H. Chardonnay has ripe stone fruit flavours, crystalline acidity and remarkable length. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
